ID Channel - The Vanishing Women
It's not over yet
ID Channel needed a promotional campaign and show graphics for its first serialized show that follows an ongoing, active investigation. The Vanishing Women details the case of six missing women from the small town of Chillicothe, Ohio. The show open and promos entice viewers, conveying the suspense and tension involved in following this unfolding case.
We used the river that runs through Chillicothe as a thread throughout the show open and promos. The high overhead drone shots reveal the silhouettes of the missing women along the banks of the river, while graphic overlays deliver messaging and images of key evidence from each case. The art direction from the show-open was carried into the key art, title cards, and end pages for both promos.
On Monday, June 6th The Vanishing Women was ID’s best series debut yet, catapulting the channel into the #4 spot in all of ad-supported cable for the timeslot that night. The premiere was ID’s top Primetime telecast for delivery of HH, and was ID’s best night ever for Prime delivery among P2+ (1.582 million) and HH (1.29 million).
Our creative directors combed through thousands of google earth images searching for the perfect location in Chillicothe for the drone shots that would be altered to create women’s silhouettes in the river.
For the more active viewers, ID Channel has created a 100-page companion guide that can be found on their site. The guide contains additional information about each case, and a detailed timeline of the tragedy.
I couldn’t be more impressed with the creativity, collaboration, and intelligence Viewpoint brought to the Vanishing Women. They helped us develop a campaign that powerfully captures this intense mystery both visually and emotionally. Matt Kendis
